Your liner does more than set the color and style of your pool, it creates the surface your family swims on and protects the pool structure underneath. A little regular attention goes a long way toward keeping it looking good and performing well for years.
1. Keep Your Water Balanced
Water chemistry is the single biggest factor in liner longevity. When pH, alkalinity or sanitizer levels fall outside the right range, the water becomes harsh on the vinyl and can cause fading, wrinkling or surface wear over time. Test your water regularly throughout swim season, especially after heavy use, a rainstorm or adding fresh water.
2. Never Add Chemicals Directly on the Liner
Chlorine tablets, shock and other concentrated chemicals can bleach or discolor vinyl on contact. Always follow manufacturer instructions and make sure chemicals are fully dissolved and distributed through the water before they reach the liner surface.
3. Clean Gently and Regularly
Sunscreen, body oils and debris collect along the waterline and in corners throughout the season. Use a soft pool brush or a vinyl-safe cleaner to keep the surface clear. Avoid stiff brushes, rough scrub pads or abrasive cleaners, they can scratch or break down the material over time.
4. Keep Sharp Objects Out of the Pool

5. Watch Your Water Level
Water should stay at the right level for your skimmer to circulate properly. When it drops too low, the top of the liner is exposed to direct sun and heat. Summer heat and evaporation can pull the level down quickly, so check it often and top off as needed.
6. Skim and Vacuum Before Debris Has Time to Sit
Leaves, grass clippings and organic debris can stain vinyl if they’re left sitting on the bottom or along the walls. Skim the surface after storms and vacuum as needed throughout the season. Staying ahead of debris also helps your water chemistry stay stable with less effort.
7. Don’t Ignore Small Issues
